Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail
All projects require a plan (or a program), which ultimately defines the project scope and budget. To help you develop this plan, our consultants create a project definition, which offers the necessary detail and potential solutions. We bring to the planning process the necessary technical expertise and group facilitators, with a focus on systems, processes, and staff.

Basic Steps in Strategic Planning
Based on the plan you are creating, specific pieces may be different, however most plans include the following:
An Assessment
Review and/or affirm your mission and vision, along with your core values (non-negotiables). Complete an internal and external scan of your environment. Determine a strategic direction based on the information you have gathered.
Develop Goals and Action Plan
Use the information gathered to develop 3 – 5 year prioritized goals to accomplish your strategic direction. Identify agents of responsibility to coordinate the implementation of portions of the plan.
Implement the Plan
Use processes that already are in place to implement the plan. The key to doing this is establishing regular feedback and reporting loops. Because business and economic situations are fluid, it is critical in this stage to develop alternative approaches that target each step of the plan.
Evaluate Your Progress
Strategy evaluation and control actions include performance measurements, consistent review of internal and external issues and making corrective actions when necessary. Any successful evaluation of the strategy begins with defining the parameters to be measured. These parameters should mirror the goals set in the goal development stage of the process. Determine your progress by measuring the actual results versus the plan.
